President faces criticism for withdrawing from political ceasefire advice

After advising the political parties to stop their political activities due to the devastating floods in the country, President Arif Alvi has emphasized the involvement of the people on national issues. President faces criticism for withdrawing from political ceasefire advice

According to the media report, President Arif Alvi, while explaining his statement regarding mobilizing the nation to help the flood victims, said that it is necessary for politicians to mobilize the people and take them into confidence on important national issues and problems.

He urged political leaders to do their best to mobilize the international community, use national resources, prioritize aid activities, continue to build the economy and strengthen democracy to alleviate the suffering of flood victims.

PML-N leader Irfan Siddiqui, referring to the role of Dr. Arif Alvi during the no-confidence motion against the former prime minister, said that the president has acted as a loyal worker of PTI since day one. He said that the President’s remarks about suspending political activities during floods were positive but he withdrew them.
