Bollywood’s chocolaty hero Ranbir Kapoor’s Christmas cake cutting was expensive, it led to blasphemy and an FIR.
According to Indian media reports, Sanjay Tiwari’s two lawyers, Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, appeared at the Ghatkopar Police Station in Mumbai and filed a request to register a case of blasphemy against the Kapoor family, including actor Ranbir Kapoor.
The petitioner justified the viral video on social media and said that before cutting the cake on the occasion of Christmas, he doused with intoxicating liquor and set on fire chanting ‘Jai Mata Di’ (invoking the fire god).
According to the petitioner, actor Ranbir Kapoor and his family deliberately consumed intoxicating liquor on the occasion of a non-Hindu religious festival and raised slogans of Hinduism which insulted the Sanatan religion, hence against them legal action should be taken.
The petitioner’s lawyers pleaded that the viral video poses a threat to the law-and-order situation and hence Section 295A (Intent to hurt the religious sentiments of any section by insulting religion or religious beliefs) against Ranbir Kapoor and his family, under Section 298 (uttering words etc. with intent to hurt religious sentiments), Section 500 (defamation) and Section 34 (acts done by several persons with common intention). An FIR should be registered.

According to Indian media, an FIR has not been registered on the complaint of the applicant.
