Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov was arrested on suspicion of accepting bribes.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, an investigation into bribery by Timur Ivanov is ongoing.
Russian officials did not specify from whom the deputy defense minister took the bribe and how much but said that the arrest means that Timur Ivanov took a bribe of at least one million rubles or about three million rupees.
The maximum punishment for this crime is fifteen years imprisonment. 48-year-old Timur Ivanov was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense on the presidential order in 2016.
He also supervised the construction of the Military Construction Complex in this capacity.
According to Forbes magazine, Timur is an expert on issues related to cybernetics and the nuclear industry and is one of the richest people among Russian security officials.
Before working at the Ministry of Defense, he was associated with fuel and energy companies and the Moscow regional government.
