SC Order: NAB Chairman Bans Transfers, Postings

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal has banned all types of transfers and postings through the country, ARY News reported on Friday.

According to the anti-graft watchdog spokesperson, the NAB chairman has also ordered to stop implementation of recently announced posting and transfers of officers to different regional offices.

The publication from the anti-corruption department comes afterward Supreme Court banded the government from the transfer of investigation officers in high-profile cases of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday publicized major restructuring with posting and transfers.

NAB Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal gave the authorization of the transfers and posting of 12 officers of regional offices of Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to a announcement, the anti-graft watchdog transferred 12 assistant directors of BPS-17.

The anti-corruption department has transferred 7 assistant directors of Balochistan to diverse regions.

Those who were transmitted to Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Multan regions include, Ubaid, Mohsin Ali, Shah Pur Khan, Aftab Ahmed, Adnan Pervez Haider Qayyum, Sarfraz Nawaz and Ahsan Qadir.

SC verdict:

The Supreme Court of Pakistan Thursday barred the transfer of investigation officers in high-profile cases of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial issued the orders in a suo motu notice which he took on Wednesday.

Alongside the apparent interference of the government office-bearers in the criminal justice system of the country.
