The High Court rejects Imran Khan’s appeal on disqualification

The Islamabad High Court rejects Imran Khan’s plea seeking an immediate suspension of the ECP’s disqualification order.

Islamabad High Court give ECP decision to former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan Ordered to remove the objections of the registrar on the application against.

Today, the plea to decide the case and suspend the commission’s order of disqualification against him was rejected.

Imran submits his application in the court on Saturday. But the registrar of the Islamabad High Court objects to the request that the PTI chief did not get his biometrics done.

However, the Chief Justice allowed the hearing of the case on Monday (today) with objection.

At the beginning of the hearing of the case today, Imran’s lawyer, Barrister Ali Zafar, requested the court to exempt his client from biometrics.

But the Chief Justice said that the biometric can be done in the presence of any lawyer.

Chief Justice Minallah inquired from the lawyer that why are they doing so hastily in this case?

Barrister Zafar replied that his client had been disqualified.

Barrister Zafar told the court that he was in a hurry. Because the by-election of Karam is to be held on the 30th of this month.

But the Chief Justice told him that Imran can contest the elections.

Because he was not disqualified for this election.

He added that “there is no restriction on him that would stop him from contesting the new elections”.

The distinguished judge remarked that there should be equal standards for all. And he said that there is no need to hear this request on emergency basis.

He directed the counsel to remove the registrar’s objections to the application within three days and then the court would hear the case.

Chief Justice Minallah further remarked that if the copy of the order issued by the Election Commission is not available, then how can the court suspend such an order which is not available.

He hoped that the ECP would issue a copy of the order soon.
