US First Lady Jill Biden tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday and is experiencing mild symptoms, the White House says.
The 72-year-old, who vaccinated and received boosters, will remain at home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Where she and President Joe Biden spent part of the weekend.
The president tested negative for the virus after his diagnosis. He then flew back to Washington DC on his own on Monday night.
A spokesman said Mr. Biden, 80, “will be tested at a regular cadence this week and will be monitoring symptoms”.
His wife’s positive test comes ahead of a busy week for the president.
He scheduled to attend the G20 summit in India on Thursday, ahead of a scheduled one-day visit to Hanoi on Sunday where he will meet Vietnamese leaders.
An administration official told media on Monday that there have been no changes to his foreign travel plans at this time.
The couple spent time together over the weekend, including a visit to Florida on Saturday. Where they watched recovery efforts after Hurricane Adelia.
Jill Biden last tested positive for Covid in August 2022, just weeks after Mr Biden did.
Both recovered without experiencing major symptoms.
