Virat Kohli scored his 49th career century against South Africa in his 289th match. He scored more than 13600 runs in 289 matches, including 49 centuries and 71 fifties.
It should be noted that before him Sachin Tendulkar of India had made a record of scoring 49 centuries in 463 matches. Sachin Tendulkar was the highest scorer in ODIs with 18426 runs, including 49 centuries, 96 fifties.
