Aware of the restrictions imposed on journalists in Pakistan, Anthony Blinken.
America has said that the government’s attitude towards journalists has been repeatedly raised in bilateral talks with Pakistan.
In a press briefing in Washington on Tuesday, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that during the many rounds of talks with Pakistan, the treatment of journalists has been discussed.
He said that this has been pointed out in the annual report on human rights and the United States is aware that there are clear restrictions on media and civil society in Pakistan.
He said that independent press and informed people are necessary for any nation and its future including Pakistan but recent measures in Pakistan are against freedom of expression.
Anthony Blinken added that the government’s response to journalists is detrimental to peace and, in particular, an obstacle to development.
