India is seriously considering bidding to host 2036 Olympics: Anurag Thakur

Indian Sports Minister Anurag Thakur says that India is seriously considering bidding to host the 2036 Olympics.

According to the foreign news agency ‘Reuters’, speaking to the Indian broadcasting organization ‘Times of India’, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur says that ‘If India is adorn with news in every sector from manufacturing to services, then sports why not on the field.

Anurag Thakur says the government will consult with the Indian Olympic Association. And prepare a road map for next year’s International Olympic Committee (IOC) session.

He says that the IOC session is an important event for India. Whatever steps are taken to bid, the government will support them as there should be joint preparation for it.

The Indian Sports Minister says that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s city of Gujarat will offered as a possible host for the Olympics.

He says that the Indian state of Gujarat expresses its desire to host the Olympics several times. Because it has the infrastructure and it is also include in the manifesto of the state of Gujarat that the Olympic Games will held in Gujarat.

It may note that New Delhi hosted the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982 and the Commonwealth Games in 2010. But now Sports Minister Anurag Thakur says that it is a good time for India to host the Olympics. So India is seriously considering bidding to host 2036 Olympics.

The International Olympic Committee said it had initially held talks with 10 cities but did not reveal a timeframe for when it plans to host the 2036 edition.

According to the report, Paris, Los Angeles and Brisbane will host the next three games. Potential competitors for the Games include Indonesia and South Korea, as well as Qatar.

However, despite strong domestic opposition, Germany is considering another Olympic bid.
