PIA plane ‘seized’ in Malaysia. At Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport, a Boeing 777 operated by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) “seized” due to a lease dispute, according to News on Tuesday.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) leased the Boeing 777 from Malaysia.
At the airport in Kuala Lumpur, the BMH-registered aircraf stopped for the second time due to $4 million in unpaid fees.
After receiving the order from a local court and making the necessary payments, the company “seized” the PIA plane.
The PIA aircraft previously impounded in Malaysia due to unpaid debt; in fact, the Kuala Lumpur airport authorities impounded the same aircraft in 2021 for the same reason.
After receiving diplomatic assurances that the debt paid, the plane later released.
On January 27, the seized PIA aircraft and its 173 occupants—passengers and crew returned to Pakistan.
