Cafe that offers people nap while standing. You might want to reevaluate your belief that it is impossible to fall asleep while standing.
Nescafé, a coffee shop in Tokyo’s Harajuku neighborhood, recently introduced standing sleeping pods (provided by Giraffenap) to allow customers to enjoy a relaxing power nap. You heard correctly. No lying down, no horizontal mattress—just a pod that fits you vertically and resembles a shower box.
In reality, however, you are not merely standing there. The pods have pads and holders so that tired visitors can “vertically sit” inside them comfortably while resting their knees, arms, and heads.
It looks terrible, but apparently, designed to give you the best power nap, claims one TikToker who decided to document the experience in a popular video posted on their profile.
The pods, which debuted last week and are only accessible through September 17, are available in two different styles, giving visitors a choice between an immersive forest experience and a space-themed one. Spacia, the first type of pod, has a more cutting-edge and futuristic aesthetic, whereas Forest is all about wood and coziness.
Once inside, sleepyheads can adjust the lighting, the height of the pads and holders, the power outlets, and even the ventilation to suit their preferences. Prepare for a quick treat after your nap. When your allotted time up, the staff supposed to come wake you up and serve you a nice cup of coffee.
