The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rejected the plea of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for appointing polling agents at the polling stations from other constituencies.
According to the News channel, the Election Commission has issued a written verdict on the PTI’s petition and stated that the polling agent can only be a voter of the same constituency.
The Commission disposing of the PTI leader Omar Ayub’s appeal has specified that no candidate’s polling agent can belong to another constituency.
The Commission also specified in the decision that it is the responsibility of the Election Commission to hold fair, transparent and impartial elections so it has issued guidelines to the returning officers concerning the appointment of polling agents.
The PTI leader had filed an appeal with the Election Commission alleging that polling agents were from another constituency in the by-elections.
