Babar Azam’s Fastest 10,000 Runs

Pakistani cricket team captain Babar Azam scored a brilliant century in the first match of the series against Sri Lanka, not only saved the team from the loss, but also created several records on behalf of Pakistan and became the fastest Asian batsman to score 10,000 runs.

Babar Azam became the 11th player to score 10,000 runs in international cricket on behalf of Pakistan during the century.

The national team captain set the record for the fastest Pakistan to score 10,000 runs, a milestone he achieved in 228 innings, while this record was held by former captain Javed Miandad.

Javed Miandad achieved the honor of scoring 10,000 runs in international cricket in 246 innings, Saeed Anwar in 255 innings, Muhammad Yousuf in 261 innings and former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq in 281 innings.

Former captain Younis Khan, who scored the most 10,099 runs on behalf of Pakistan in Test cricket, scored 10,000 runs at the international level in 284 innings, Misbah-ul-Haq scored 286 innings, Saleem Malik scored 309, Mohammad Hafeez scored 328, Shoaib Malik made this record in 358 innings and Shahid Afridi in 441 innings.

The record for the fastest 10,000 runs in the world is held by West Indies batting great Vivian Richards, who achieved this record in just 206 innings.

Second is former South African batsman Hashim Amla and he crossed the milestone of 10,000 runs in 217 innings, followed by West Indies’ Brian Lara in 220 and England’s Joe Root in 222 innings.

Babar Azam has snatched the fifth position from India’s famous all-rounder Virat Kohli, who scored 10,000 runs in 228 innings.

Thus, Babar Azam has become the fastest Asian cricketer to score 10,000 runs.

Record of centuries as a captain

With his century against Sri Lanka, Babar Azam has scored the highest number of centuries for Pakistan in 70 innings as a captain with 9 centuries.

Former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq scored 9 centuries in 131 innings.

Misbah-ul-Haq scored 8 centuries in 189 innings and Imran Khan scored 6 centuries in 186 innings as captain.

It may be recalled that Pakistan scored 218 for 222 in the first innings of the first Test of the series against Sri Lanka, including Babar Azam’s 119.

Babar Azam played an innings of 119 runs with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes.
