India: BJP lawmaker arrested for Blasphemous Statement

Indian police arrests a lawmaker from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). After Indian Muslims protest against a derogatory statement about Prophet Muhammad.

He was arrested on the charge of spreading incitement and hatred.

According to ‘AFP’, the police arrests BJP MLA T Raja Singh on charges of spreading hatred.

Joel Davis tells Reuters that the BJP lawmaker arrested on charges of promoting enmity in the name of religion. Joel Davis is aa senior police official in the Indian city of Hyderabad,

“We detain him and we will arrest him. His arrest is because of the recent video he posted on social media,” he says.

In a video on social media, Indian legislator T Raja Singh makes a controversial statement apparently referring to the Prophet Muhammad.

BJP spokesperson K Krishna Rao told News18 that the Hindu nationalist BJP will look into T Raja Singh’s remarks. We will take action if he has violated its code of conduct.

Hundreds of Muslims protested against the lawmaker on Monday evening after the video surfaced on social media.

The arrest of T Raja Singh comes months after the BJP sacked its spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

Protests continues in India against the Nupur Sharma incident and countless cases files against Nupur Sharma in various Indian states.

The Supreme Court terms the woman who make the insulting statement as a ‘bad mouth’. SC also said that her bad language set the entire country on fire.

The Supreme Court of India declares that the woman makes irresponsible statements. Her statement led to incidents like Udaipur. Yet, claims that she is a lawyer for 10 years. She should immediately apologize to the entire country.
