Avoid preconceptions about women’s day: Sherry Rehman

Federal Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman said that all citizens are requested to avoid prejudices related to this day.

In her video statement released on the occasion of International Women’s Day on the social networking site Twitter, Sherry Rehman said that today’s day should be congratulated to the women of the world, including the brave and hardworking women of Pakistan.

She states that today’s day is a symbol of women’s ‘struggle’. The purpose of celebrating this day is to encourage women and recognize their rights and spread awareness about their equal status. 49% of the population of Pakistan consists of women.

Sherry Rehman says that women are like the backbone in every sector including family system, society, country and economy.

Women across the country should get health, education and other basic facilities and an environment of equality. Today our women are only demanding their human, constitutional and legal rights.

The federal minister said that women should given their basic rights and status according to the constitution and law. So that they can lead a dignified life socially and economically.

She further said that I am dedicating this day to the laborers and flood-affected women of the country.

Senator Sherry Rehman also said to encourage the hard work, efforts and achievements of our women.
