The China-Pakistan Trade Corridor through the Khunjarab Pass will reopen today after three years, resuming direct trade between the two countries.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his happiness on the opening of the corridor. He says that he wants to expand the CPEC at double speed than at which it left in 2018.
The prime minister said that a foreign-funded person committed the crime of making CPEC controversial, stabbing the great friendship of the two countries.
The pass connects Gilgit-Baltistan with China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and closed in 2020 following the outbreak of Covid-19.

According to official sources, Chinese authorities have shared a letter with Pakistani authorities regarding the reopening of the China-Pakistan Trade Corridor. The Khunjerab Pass is normally open from 1st April to 30th November every year, and is closed from 1st December to 31st March due to cold weather and lack of oxygen at high altitude.
