When Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S.) built the Kaaba, the Great House of Allah, it had no roof and no door. However, in the last 5 thousand years, a total of 6 doors of Kaaba changed. The last gate was built by Ahmed bin Ibrahim Badr on the orders of Shah Khalid bin Abdul Aziz.
The first door
According to historians, the first door of the Kaaba built by King Taba. According to the biography of Ibn Hisham, this event is centuries before the birth of the Prophet.
Al-Arzooqi has mentioned in Akhbar Makkah with reference to Ibn Jarir that Taba was the first king who purified the Kaaba, built and installed its door, prepared its key, covered it and passed it on to his descendants. Bequeathed it to Jarham.
The second door
According to historians, the Kaaba, built by King Taba, was made of wood, which remained throughout the period of Jahiliyyah. It changed in 64 AH during the period of Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair after the Prophetic Prophethood and the early period of the Islamic era. He prepared an 11 cubit long door of the Kaaba which installed in the Kaaba.
The third door
After that, Hajjaj bin Yusuf replaced the door of the Kaaba with Abdullah bin Zubair and installed a 6-handed door again.
The fourth door
After that, during the reign of Murad Rabi or Murad IV, the king of the Ottoman Caliphate, the Kaaba changed again in 1045 AH, which lasted until 1356 AH. This time it was fortified with silver and plated with 200 ratals of gold. This was the first chapter of the Kaaba which was fortified.
This door has two panels with historical architectural motifs. Metal plates also used in its manufacture. This is the reason why this chapter of the Kaaba is also the highest in its quality. This door on the eastern wall of the Kaaba continuously welcomed pilgrims and pilgrims for 300 years.
The fifth door
King Abdulaziz Al Saud, the founder of the Saudi kingdom, in 1363 AH specially prepared a new chapter of the Kaaba under personal interest. The new gate also prepared because the old Kaaba had weakened due to the passage of time.
On the order of Shah Abdul Aziz, the new gate for the Kaaba prepared after three years of hard work. Its base is made of steel, its two-paned wooden door is plated with gold and silver.
The sixth door
After that, on the order of Shah Khalid bin Abdul Aziz, the present door prepared by Ahmed bin Ibrahim Badr with continuous 12 months of hard work. Which decorated with the Kaaba in 1398 AH and is still standing today. 1 million 43 thousand 20 Rials spent in its preparation along with 280 kg of gold.
Archaeologist Dr. Saad al-Rashid said that when King Abdulaziz unified the kingdom, his first concern was the expansion of the Haramin Sharif. He takes deep interest in the construction, maintenance and development of Masjid al-Haram and Masjid Nabawi.
Therefore, the development and expansion of the Haramin Sharifin, which started during the reign of the founder of the kingdom, King Abdulaziz Al Saud, continues in the era of today’s Custodian of the Haramin Sharifin, King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman.
It should be noted that the doors of Kaaba are the oldest doors of any building on earth. The old doors of the Kaaba are still preserved in the national cultural heritage of Saudi Arabia and are considered as a symbol of the glorious history, culture and civilization of Saudi Arabia.
Even today, the world circumambulates these ancient doors of the Kaaba. Recently, the Kaaba along with other historical and rare items was put on display at the Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi
