Flood Alert Issued in Punjab. Due to India releasing more than 70,000 cusecs of water into Pakistan’s River Sutlej, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has expressed concern about the potential for flooding in the area.
Authorities in the area have confirmed the sizeable water discharge from the Harike headworks and have issued alerts regarding the possibility of flooding in the neighborhood. The deputy commissioners of Kasur, Okara, Wahari, Pakpattan, and Vehari given the go-ahead to set up relief camps in their respective districts as a precaution.
Authorities are advising people to stay away from areas near urban rivers and canals in order to ensure public safety.

Additionally, district administrations told to start dewatering operations and create backup traffic plans for vulnerable urban areas.
Authorities will keep an eye on the situation until July 20 and advise people living in high-risk areas to stay informed and follow any instructions given by the appropriate authorities.
