Gen Faiz in army custody, accused of post-retirement political links

Former DGISI Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Faiz Hameed has been found involved in political connections in violation of the army’s code of conduct after retirement.

Sources say that after retirement he was warned not to do so, but General Faiz ignored the warning, which led to the action against him.

ISPR’s press release, which was issued on Monday, has two parts. The first part is related to the inquiry into the allegations of the owner of Top City, a housing society in Islamabad. In this regard, it has been said in the press release that to find out the validity of the complaints made in the Top City case, the Pakistan Army had conducted a detailed court of inquiry against Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed (R) following the orders of the Supreme Court.

As a result, appropriate disciplinary action has been initiated against General (Rtd) Faiz Hameed under the provisions of the Pakistan Army Act.

In the second part of the press release, without giving details, it is said that after the retirement, several incidents of violation of the Pakistan Army Act have also come to light.

The process of Field General Court Martial has been initiated and General (Rtd) Faiz Hameed has been taken into custody by the army. The lack of relevant details in the press release led to speculations about “multiple incidents of violations” by General (R) Faiz.

When asked by a source whether these incidents involved General Faiz about the May 9 attacks or his planning, he replied that there is no such evidence so far. Still, If anything comes out during the investigation during the arrest, nothing can be said about it.

It was also claimed on Monday that relevant circles have got evidence of plans by General Faiz as DGISI to kill some politicians and journalists in 2023. However, sources say there is no such thing against the former DGISI.
