How to get benefits from Ramzan

Once again Allah (SWT) has blessed us with the holy month of Ramzan. It is very important for every Muslim to know how to get benefit from this blessed month of the year. This holy month provides us with a time of spiritual renewal, self-reflection, and devotion to Allah (SWT). As a Muslim, I believe that there are several ways in which we can get benefits from this month. Here, I will try to discuss some of these ways in detail.

Fasting: Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam

Allah (SWT) has said in Quran that Fast is for me and I will give a Reward for it. Fasting during Ramzan is one of the most important acts of worship that Muslims do.

In Surah Al-Baqarah Allah (SWT) said

“O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.”

During Fast by abstaining from food, drink, and other worldly pleasures from dawn until sunset, we are able to increase our taqwa (God-consciousness) and purify our souls. Fasting also teaches us self-control, tolerance, and understanding for those who are less fortunate. However, It is important to understand that fasting is not just about abstaining from food and drink, but also about holding back from sinful behaviour and doing acts of kindness and charity.

Prayer: Prayer is another important aspect of Ramzan

Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) said: “Whenever the time of each prayer arrives, an Angel announces to the people: (O’ People!) Stand up and extinguish, with prayers, the fire which you have set alight for yourselves.”

Muslims are encouraged to pray more frequently during this month, especially during the night prayers (taraweeh). By increasing our devotion to Allah (SWT) through prayer, we are able to strengthen our faith and increase our taqwa. One should not forget that prayer is not just a physical act, but also a spiritual one. We should do your best to focus our minds and hearts on Allah (SWT) during prayer and to make it a meaningful and transformative experience.

Recitation of the Quran:

During this holy month of Ramzan Muslims are encouraged to increase their recitation of the Quran. The Quran is the word of Allah (SWT) and it contains guidance and wisdom for all aspects of our lives.

“Recite the Qur’an, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection.” (Muslim)

By reciting the Quran during Ramzan, we are able to deepen our understanding of Islam and increase our taqwa. It is also important to reflect on the meaning of the verses and to apply them to our daily lives.

Acts of Kindness and Charity during Ramzan:

Ramzan is a time when Muslims are encouraged to engage in acts of kindness and charity. This can take many forms, such as feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, helping the needy, and donating to charitable causes. By engaging in these acts of kindness, we are able to represent the teachings of Islam and increase our taqwa. It is important to remember that charity is not just about giving money, but also about giving our time, skills, and resources to help others.

Self-Reflection:

Finally, Ramzan is a time for self-analysis. We should take the time to think about our actions, intentions, and relationships. We should try to recognize areas of weakness and work on improving ourselves. Self-reflection can also help us to increase our gratitude for the blessings in our lives and to deepen our connection with Allah (SWT).

In conclusion, Ramzan Kareem is a time of immense spiritual benefit for Muslims around the world. By engaging in acts of worship, increasing our devotion to Allah (SWT), and engaging in acts of kindness and charity, we can deepen our understanding of Islam and increase our taqwa. We should also take the time for self-reflection and introspection, and strive to improve ourselves in all aspects of our lives. May Allah (SWT) bless us all with a fruitful and spiritually uplifting Ramzan Kareem. Ameen.
