Instagram suffers global outage. Instagram, a social media platform, experienced a global outage that included Pakistan but resolved after a few hours.
While the website only provided a blank page, the app’s feed frozen and wassuing errors to users that it couldn’t refresh.
The first reports of trouble, according to outage tracker DownDetector, began a short while after 6 PM ET and peaked at over 175,000 reports. However, by 7:30 PM ET, the problem fixed, and it back to working.
After the outage, Meta representative Dave Arnold wrote in an email to The Verge, “Earlier today, a technical issue caused some people to have trouble accessing Instagram. We apologize for any inconvenience this may caused and we quickly resolved the problem for everyone who impacted.
Due to the timing, Australia’s Monday morning news reports quickly mentioned the outage.
Facebook, WhatsApp, and Horizon Worlds, which are all part of Instagram’s parent company, Meta, seem unaffected. There are no indications of problems like the significant datacenter backbone issue that prevented the company from providing its services for hours in 2021.
Instagram acknowledged that it experienced a “brief outage” and that the problem has been “resolved” in a tweet at 8:19 p.m. ET.
