International Women’s Day will be celebrated all over the world today, in this regard, ceremonies will be organized in Pakistan as well.
Women are standing side by side with men in the fields of fields, threshing floors, and modern science and technology.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that today is the day to recognize the achievements of women in every field, and providing equal rights to women will be the priority of the government.
It should be noted that International Women’s Day was celebrated for the first time by the United Nations in 1975 on the occasion of International Women’s Year.
The history of International Women’s Day dates back to 1908
At that time 15,000 women marched through New York City. They demanded better pay, shorter working hours, and voting rights. The first International Women’s Day was celebrated in 1911. Initially, the celebration was limited to Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. But afterward, it spread to other parts of the world.
Over the years, this day has become a popular platform. Through this platform, they raise awareness about the issues that women face. Through this platform, women fight for their rights. It has played a significant role in the feminist movement. It has helped to inspire change in various areas of society, including politics, education, and the workplace.
Though society has progressed towards gender equality, there is still a long way to go. Women continue to face discrimination, harassment, and violence. They are not fully safe in their personal lives and in the workplace. The gender pay gap persists, with women still earning less than men for the same work. Only a few women are represented in leadership positions. Only a small percentage of women are in top positions in politics, business, and other fields.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme is a reminder that we all have a role to play in promoting gender equality. It calls on individuals to speak out against sexism and discrimination. We all should challenge gender stereotypes, and support women’s rights. It also encourages organizations to take action to address gender bias and promote diversity and inclusion.
