Korean singer Choi Sung-bong dies. Choi Sung-bong, a South Korean singer, died at the age of 33 after posting what appeared to be a suicide note on his personal YouTube channel.
Choi Sung-bong, 33, who became famous after making his debut on “Korea’s Got Talent” in 2011, where he finished in second place, was discovered dead at his home in the Yeoksam-dong neighborhood of Southern Seoul on Tuesday after allegedly leaving a suicide note, according to reports from local media outlets in Korea.
Police believe that the famous singer decided to end his life as he posted a farewell message earlier this week on his YouTube channel.
Choi reportedly had a difficult upbringing and dropped out of school at a young age because he couldn’t afford the school’s tuition. He took part in “Korea’s Got Talent” after receiving free musical instruction from Jeong-So Park and finished in second place, just behind the winner.
Choi signed a deal with a Korean label to publish the best-selling memoir about his journey from “an impoverished youth to internet fame” after receiving widespread praise for his stint.

His fame, however, changed when he announced in 2021 that he needed money to pay for the treatment of several different types of cancer. A Korean news agency reported that the incident ultimately turned out to be a hoax.
According to the most recent information, Choi acknowledged his “foolish mistake” in his farewell letter and apologized, as well as confirming that he had returned all the donations he had received fraudulently.
