Efforts to arrest of Imran Khan in Lahore are continuing this morning, along with the police, a heavy contingent of Rangers also reached Zaman Park.
PTI workers pelted stones on Rangers and police
Fresh police forces and PTI activists came face to face early in the morning, Tehreek-e-Insaaf activists pelted stones at the Rangers along with the police.
A Rangers official also injured in stone pelting by PTI workers.
Police once again used tear gas shelling and water cannon to disperse PTI workers outside Lahore’s Zaman Park.
So far 65 injured in attempt of arrest
According to the hospital sources, 65 people have injured in the clashes between police and workers. 54 police personnel, 1 Rangers personnel and 8 civilians also included in the injured.
Hospital sources said that 51 police personnel were brought to Services Hospital and 3 to Mayo Hospital.
Early in the morning, the police were forced to retreat
Early in the morning, the police advanced towards Zaman Park from 3 directions, Dharmapura, Mall Road and Sunderdas Road for the arrest of Imran Khan.
The police reached Gate No. 1 but were forced to retreat after stone pelting and attacks by PTI workers.
Water cannons, motorcycles, fire brigades were set on fire
Demonstrators set fire to police water cannons, damaged police vehicles, and burnt motorcycles of traffic wardens.
The fire tender of Rescue 1122 arrived to douse the fire and the workers also set it on fire.
