Actresses Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed were acquitted of shooting in the mosque.
Lahore Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Mushtaq granted the pleas of Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed.
It should be noted that a case was registered against actress Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed in the case of alleged dance at the historic Wazir Khan Mosque in Lahore in 2020, at the request of lawyer Farhat Manzoor at Akbari Gate police station.
Singer Bilal Saeed and actress Saba Qamar also faced severe criticism and condemnation on social media for shooting songs and dancing at Wazir Khan Mosque.
The FIR registered against them under section 295 had said that actress Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed had violated the sanctity of the mosque, therefore action should be taken against them.
The two artists also apologized for the incident, while the endowment department suspended the mosque manager for allowing the shooting of songs in the mosque.
The Lahore Judicial Magistrate issued warrants on September 8, 2021 for the persistent absence of actress Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed.
After this, actress Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed filed petitions for acquittal which were rejected.
However, on March 30, 2022, the motion to dismiss the petitions was challenged.
Petitioners Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed in their position said that the report of the endowment was in our favor that no immoral act had taken place, the video was edited and the music was made viral on social media.
Additional Sessions Judge Malik Mushtaq had issued notice to the parties and sought reply on April 2.
