Toshakhana case: Imran Khan arrested court jails him for 3 years. According to News, the District and Sessions Court sentenced the PTI chairman to three years in prison on Saturday in the Toshakhana criminal case.
In its ruling, the court stated that the accused found guilty of engaging in corrupt behavior and sentenced the PTI chairman to three years in prison.
The PTI chief who found guilty also received a Rs. 1 lakh fine from the court.
The former prime minister also declared ineligible to hold public office for a period of five years by the court.
Before asking for time, junior attorney PTI Khalid Yousuf informed the court that senior attorney Khawaja Haris was occupied in the NAB court. Where is the defendant, demanded Judge Humayun Dilawal. Khalid Yousuf stated that Khawaja Haris would inform the court of the accused.
The judge inquired, “You said Khawaja Haris has been busy in the NAB court, what he is doing.” He is arguing in favor of bail petitions, the junior attorney said.
The judge noted, “The court had summoned at 8:30am, and it is now 10:30.”
The hearing postponed until noon by the court.
The judge stated, “The lead counsel should ensure his presence by 12:00, failing which the court will make its decision.”
Amjad Pervaiz and Saad Hassan, attorneys for the election commission, appeared in ADJ Humayun Dilawar’s court.
Due to the absence of the Chairman PTI’s attorneys, the court had earlier postponed the hearing until 10:30AM.
The Toshakhana reference against the PTI chairman upheld by a session court, but the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday overturned that decision.
The lower court mandated to rehear the case by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq.
The court also denied the PTI chairman’s request to the case transferred to a different court, and it gave notice that the appeal to reinstate the right to a defense heard the following week.
The trial court had earlier ruled that the PTI chief’s ECP reference was maintainable. The judgment then contested in the IHC.
