Lahore: Australia defeated Pakistan in the only T20 match of the series.
Aaron Finch, Australia captain , in the only T20 match to be played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, won the toss and invited Babar Azam to bat first.
Batting first, the national team scored 162 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Muhammad Rizwan and captain Babar Azam started the innings for Pakistan.
Both batsmen shared 67 runs for the first wicket but Rizwan returned to the pavilion with 23 runs.
Captain Babar Azam once again took charge of the national team and scored 66 runs off 46 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 6 fours. Iftikhar Ahmed 13, Khushdal Shah 24, Asif Ali 3, Hassan Ali 10, Fakhr Zaman, Shaheen Shah Afridi were out without scoring a run.
In the closing moments of the match, Usman Qadir batted aggressively and scored 18 runs off 6 balls with the help of two fours and a six.
For Australia, Nathan Ellis took four wickets, Cameron Green two, Sean Abbott and Adam Zampa one each.
Australia got off to a good start in pursuit of the target, with skipper Aaron Finch and Travis Head starting the innings and establishing a 40-run partnership, but Head soon lost the wicket.
Captain Aaron Finch regained his lost form and played a responsible innings of 53 runs and was instrumental in the team’s victory.
Abbott was dismissed without scoring. For Pakistan, Usman Qadir and Shaheen Shah Afridi took 2 wickets each while Haris Rauf and Mohammad Waseem took one wicket each.
Australia had beaten Pakistan 0-1 in the Test series.
