Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has arrived in China on a week-long visit. His grandson Junaid Safdar and five others are with him.
The leader of Muslim League-N has called it a private visit. This is his first foreign visit after returning from a four-year self-imposed exile in London. He returned in October last year.
The former prime minister departed on Monday (April 22) on Chinese Airlines flight CZ-6038. Although his visit is not official, reliable sources told The News here on Tuesday evening that the visit will prove to be very fruitful for the country and its people as it will lead to the establishment of Nawaz Sharif IT City in Lahore.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has started similar projects in all major cities of the province. Several Chinese companies have shown interest in investing in the Nawaz Sharif IT City, which is expected to be established within a year.
Sources say that Nawaz Sharif will restore ties with China’s ruling party leaders and big business houses who hold him in high regard, who will later come to Pakistan to set up investment and development projects.
