Punjab Govt to Reinstate Free Wifi Service

The PML-N led Punjab government has decided to reinstate free WiFi services in five districts of the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

The provincial government will restore and continue free WiFi services in five districts—Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Bahawalpur.

The PML-N government had in its preceding stint launched Free WiFi service.

To authorize people through technology in a bid to bridge the digital divide by providing free internet admittance.

Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz took announcement of the non-functioning of around 106 free Wifi spots through the province.

And ordered the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to reestablish the services within a week.

The government will assign funds for the free WiFi in the budget of the coming fiscal year.

The Punjab chief minister also ordered PITB to take actions.

To provide these services to other districts of the province as well.

Pertinent to note that the services were non-operational due to the non-payment of the bills pending from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.
