The overall inflation rate in the country has come down to 15.42%

ISLAMABAD: The overall inflation rate in the country has come down to 15.42 per cent.

In one week, the inflation rate has come down to 1.28 per cent.

According to media reports, the Bureau of Statistics has released weekly inflation data.

The report said that on a weekly basis, the rate of inflation decreased by 1.28%, after which the overall rate of inflation in the country came down to 15.42%.

In recent weeks, 19 items including ghee, vegetables, meat and milk have become more expensive while prices of 10 items have declined.

Among the 19 items that became more expensive, onion became more expensive by Rs5.84 per kg, chicken by Rs4.88 per kg, eggs by Rs2.21 per dozen and lentils by Rs2.9 per kg. Onion became more expensive by Rs 5.84 per kg and chicken by Rs 4.88 per kg in recent weeks.

Similarly, prices of ghee, tea and fresh milk, including beef, rose by Rs2.51 per kg and mutton by Rs5.40 per kg.

On the other hand, the flight of the dollar came to a halt on Friday after a one-week hiatus in both the foreign exchange markets on the expectation of easing of tough conditions in negotiations between the government and the IMF and the release of outstanding loan installments.

The dollar’s interbank rate had risen to Rs 187.89 on the spot in the early part of the trading session, but its value declined as the supply-demand gap improved in the last trading session.

The dollar’s interbank rate closed 27 paisa lower at Rs 186.70.

In the open currency market, the dollar fell below Rs 188 and closed at Rs 187.50, down 50 paisa.
